ニョ (nyo), katakana yōon

The two characters combine into one syllable lasting one beat (mora). Do not give the small kana a separate beat.

ニョ combines ニ with a small ョ. Instead of saying ニ and then a separate vowel, say nyo as one syllable with one beat.
